| | |           All of the Weaverlings descend
from a common ancestor, John Weaverling,
who came to America in 1751. When John first arrived in America, he
settled in York County, Pennsylvania. Two of his sons, Peter and Adam,
joined the Continental Army and fought in the Revolutionary War.         After the war, Peter settled in Bedford
      County, Pennsylvania and even
today, many of his descendants still live in western Pennsylvania. In the
1850s and 60s, part of the family started moving west. They settled in
Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, South Dakota, Nebraska, Idaho, Washington, California
and other states along the way.         Over 5000 descendants of John Weaverling
      have been identified, with 10
generations of Weaverlings living in America. Many of these individuals helped
to settle this great land and helped to keep it free. Weaverlings and their
descendants have fought in all the major wars this country has been involved
in. We can be proud of the great heritage we have. Knowing about our past,
helps us better know and understand our future. |
