| | |           The German spelling for Weaverling
is Weberling. The word Weber in German means
weaver and the suffix ling means small. Thus the name Weberling
means a small weaver. On the 14 November 1715, Peter Weberling,
a weaver of fine linen, came to Kaiserslautern, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany from
Fordestatt, Brandenburg, Germany. There he could practice his trade of weaving
and raise his family.         He had three children, Johannes Weberling, Maria
Rosina Weberling and Johann Friderich Weberling. All three of them were married
in the Stadtarchiv Kaiserslautern Parish.         Peter's oldest son, Johannes, left Kaiserslautern
for America on the 25 May 1751 with his wife, Maria Salome Edelmann, and their three
day old daughter, Margretha Weberling. Johannes's father, Peter, may have also
come to America with the family. As far as it is known, the other two children remained
      in Germany. |
